What Happened to the Good Ol' Days??

I was watching MTV Jams for the first time in years the other day and one thought persisted, “How did we get to this point.” The gratuitous ass shaking and bottle popping have always occurred in rap videos but I have never been bothered by it. Rap videos used to matter (ask Missy Elliot) to the point when you heard a song you couldn’t wait to see the video that would accompany it; however, nowadays I can’t stand this shit. What happened to the good ol’ days when DMX would round up the Ruff Ryder’s to do wheelies in the background of his videos while his whole crew got to stand in the background and participate in what appears to be a half cookout/half dog fight/ half video shoot/and half actual shootout. (In fourth grade I would have done anything to have been at this video shoot). This made me think what are the best rap videos and what made them so special, so here’s my list in no particular order:

In order to save ODB from killing himself the Wu forms like Voltron and switches constantly between their human and killer bee persona's, Best Video of all time

Redman - I'll Bee Dat: This video is one of the funniest ever.
Premise-Reggie Nobble sits around and watches himself on TV, true comedy

Ludacris - Saturday, Roll Out, Southern Hospitality: I really couldn't chose between these amazing Luda videos. His videos were always fantastic!

Fam-lay - Rock N' Roll: Cause it's like that

Mad Max, George Clinton, Chris Tucker and the infamous to be continued ending... Enough said

Ghostface Killah - Cher Chez La Ghost: Pretty sure this qualifies as party/orgy of the year

Eminem and Dr. Dre - Guilty Conscience: One of the most edited videos, is still one of the funniest line for line songs ever. Eminem could have a few more videos on this list if they didn't get so repetative

Eminem and Dr. Dre - Forgot about Dre
: If you don't believe me watch from 1:40 - 2:50 for classic Eminem video hilarity

The Firm - Phone Tap: Its like an Episode of the Wire (Who Young Leek Be?)

The Story of Scarface's life through His Block. Scarface = OG status.

The Notorious B.I.G. - Hypnotize
: This shit is awesome, the 90's summed up in 5 minutes

DMX - Party Up: This thriller set the stage for DMX's future blockbusters Cradle 2 Da Grave, and Never Die Alone.

Busta Rhymes & ODB - Woo Hah (Remix): WTF tip are they on??

Freeway Jay-Z & Beanie Sigel - What We Do: "Gotta kill witnesses cause Free's beards stickin' out"

PS: Everyone reading is lucky that R. Kelly's videos don't qualify as rap because there would have been at least 4 of his videos on this list. (I Wish, Contagious, Trapped in The Closet, and the Porno)
