I was watching MTV Jams for the first time in years the other day and one thought persisted, “How did we get to this point.” The gratuitous ass shaking and bottle popping have always occurred in rap videos but I have never been bothered by it. Rap videos used to matter (ask Missy Elliot) to the point when you heard a song you couldn’t wait to see the video that would accompany it; however, nowadays I can’t stand this shit. What happened to the good ol’ days when DMX would round up the Ruff Ryder’s to do wheelies in the background of his videos while his whole crew got to stand in the background and participate in what appears to be a half cookout/half dog fight/ half video shoot/and half actual shootout. (In fourth grade I would have done anything to have been at this video shoot). This made me think what are the best rap videos and what made them so special, so here’s my list in no particular order:

Quoting the infamous words of Michael Corleone, "Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in." After the worst Playoff's of any sport (save "the shot") I had all but given up on the NBA. But today that feeling of indifference towards professional basketball has drastically changed...

In case you haven't noticed, everything relevant that I have ever learned has come through Yahoo Sports. So it is only fitting that last night I learned of the recent trade (agreed upon, but not league approved) sending the Diesel to the Cleveland Cav's for Ben Wallace, Sasha Pavlovic, the 46th Draft pick (in the worst draft ever) and Cash. I was thinking the same thing; this must be too good to be true. The truth is that this is a win-win trade for both teams. The Cav's give up less than 10 total points per game in exchange for the most feared big man to ever play the game, and the Sun's, in a system I don't fully understand, end up saving over 10 million dollars by placing their team beneath the luxury tax limit.

Here's the greatest part about the trade, the Cav's gave up nobody for a huge body (something they could have used against the Magic). They still have their entire core team that won 66 games last season. Including two great young point guards (one with an unfortunate case of herpes on his lower lip) complimenting the best player in the League right now. In addition, with Big Z, the Cav's have the ability to play Shaq less than 30 minutes a game, keeping him healthy come playoff time. Shaq will always require a double team, but that becomes an impossible task with Lebron James on the floor and a team full of shooters. I have heard the argument that Lebron doesn't want Shaq to help him win a title because Dwayne Wade and Kobe have been there and done that, but the difference is Shaq was the go to guy on both of those teams, there is no doubt that the Cav's remain Bron's team. Also, this will be the first of many Championships for Lebron James; he won't have to wait until he's 30 to win one without the Diesel.

Lastly, this is the best news I’ve heard in weeks. Since Iverson is yet to find a home, this places my two favorite, and the two funniest and most dominant basketball players on basically the same team that won 66 games last year. So watch out 95-96 Bulls, I think 72-10 is well within the the '09 Cav's reach.

The 76ers have just announced that they are returning to the retro logo and uniforms that they sported from 1963-1997 (the season they drafted AI). I have a few theories
1. Maybe Hip-Hop will look less creepy in a different uniform.
2. The brand relaunch is a change in direction so we forget about the Brand that we shouldn't have signed (5 years 80 million) in the first place.
3. The organization unified in an effort to help put the Billy King years behind us.

The change in direction is fine with me, for 10 years Billy King did everything in his power to make the Philadelphia 76ers a loosing organization; i.e. Derrick Coleman, and Keith Van Horn (two of the worst 1st overall draft picks ever), Glenn Robinson, Chris Webber, the desire to trade away every 1st round draft pick, and the list goes on. He was one of the most inept basketball GM's ever, whose only good moves were drafting Young Thad, and Allen Iverson (watch that). But whatever the reason, all I know is I can't wait to buy by my Black and Gold A.I. throwback in about 15 years.

This video has to be the funniest piece of unintentional comedy I have ever seen in my life.

So apparently this guy is a famous (flamboyantly gay) blogger that called Will.I.Am from the Black Eyed Peas a faggot to his face (kinda strange, I know) and in the process got punched in the face by the group's manager. I never laughed this hard when I heard this guy say how this is the worst thing that has ever happened to him, and that in all his years of blogging he never expected anything like this to happen. He even said "I thought my eye was gonna fall out of my head." Personally, I feel that that is what happens when you get so used to insulting people over the internet that you forget what can actually happens when you talk shit to someone's face. It's not even like he said this to someone that serious, image if he had said that shit to DMX.

But yes, there is a point to this post. My question is what category do flamboyantly gay men fall under? I think Perez Hilton is so used to people looking at him as harmless that he forgot the fact that he is a man, and as a man he can be held physically responsible for being disrespectful. It was wrong for him to get punched in the sense that it's wrong for anyone to get punched, but not in the way that it is wrong for a man to punch a woman. If he wants to be treated like a woman that can say whatever he pleases he should go ahead and get the sex change now. Unless I am wrong and it has recently become immoral for a man (gay or straight) to punch a flamboyantly gay man even if there is just cause. (I am thoroughly embarrassed that I just wrote about Perez Hilton, but the video is pretty damn funny.)

After hours of thought, it has become obvious that the Rise and Fall of Allen Iverson and the teams he has played for can be easily traced through the success of his Reebok Shoes. This post will statistically prove this theory, I assure you this correlation actually exists.

Now before the Showell brothers or LFabes can tear me to pieces over perceived insults of “The Answer”, let me state… Allen Iverson Is the Best Pound For Pound Player of All Time. He is also my favorite player of all time, and my father in law. In addition, he penned one of the greatest rap songs ever and within this songs, one of the greatest lyrics of all time--- “everybody stay fly get money kill and fuck bitches, I'm hittin anything in plain view for my riches." In addition, he made every 76ers game worth watching, broke countless ankles (watch 47 seconds in, especially if you love Kobe Bryant), won a bronze medal, hit a woman over the head with a chair in a bowling alley, made tattoo's and cornrolls cool, has over 13 Rolls Royce’s, was supposedly a better QB than Mike Vick in his Prime, is from Virginia where ain’t shit to do but cook, dunked on Marcus Camby (watch) and took the least talented team to ever reach the finals; Eric Snow, Matt Geiger, Lynch, Bell, Tyrone Hill Jermaine Jones, Rodney Buford. Must I continue? But I must get to the point which revolves around the fact that the rise and fall of his career can be examined by probing the history of the Answer's Reebok's.

The Reebok Questions -- (1996)
The Rebook Questions were released in September 1996. One of the best pairs Sneakers ever; a shoe perfectly fitting for the Number 1 Overall draft pick in the best NBA draft of all time. Won the Rookie of the Year Award and scored 40 points in five straight games in 1997 to set an NBA rookie record

The Answer I -- (1997)
I owned the Black and Gold’s and wore them everywhere… and yes if you’re wondering they do double as children’s dress shoes; good for weddings, bar mitzvahs, and funerals, not just pickup basketball. In my opinion that shoe (---->) is my favorite shoe I've ever owned. In terms of Iverson’s career, just like the shoes, this is when AI transitioned from a question to the answer to all the sixers problems. 1997

Answer I I -- (1998)
The shoe was eehhh, not the best but not terrible. Quite fitting for a season in which AI only played 48 of the 82 regular season games... Forget about the scoring title. The commercial, however, was quite spectacular.

Answer IV-- (2000)
The 2000-01 NBA Season was an unforgetable one in Philadelphia Allen Iverson had his Career defining season whenhe won NBA MVP and carried the Sixers to the finals. In AI’s MVP season he averaged 31.5 PPG while the Reebok Answer IV’s took over Philadelphia during my 6th grade year. In retrospect, like Iverson’s career the A IV’s was the peak of the Answer shoes. However, don’t think that means his career or shoe’s just instantly fell off.

Answer V -- (2001)
The Answer V were stellar basketball shoes. The only thing better than the shoes was the commercial with “Even on the court we stay fly, Jada and AI, reppin’ the A Fives”. And of course Iverson won the Scoring title 31.4 points during the 2001-02 season.

Answer VI -- (2002)
Even though the shoes weren’t as hot (27.6 ppg) everyone still had them. (Thus one of the only 2 seasons where AI played all 82.) But when it comes down to it everything up through the second commercial with Jadakiss was a little weaker.

Answer VII -- (2003)

These shoes were still alright because of the name attached, but obviously not up to par with previous pairs. In 2003 26.4 PPG in an injury plagued season with only 47 games started.

Answer VIII -- (2004)

The Answer VIII's were a definite improvement from the previous seasons pair (30.4). Unfortunatly this was when it was clear that even if it wasn’t spoken aloud, Reebok (the Sixer) was never going to be as popular as it was in 2000. The clear beginning of the end when in the 2004 season the 76ers acquired CWebb and drafted Andre Igudala, (who under no circumstances should be called AI). That year they went 43-39, and it was clear Reebok’s would never return to the level of Nike, especially with Chris Webber’s bum ass making 20 million dollars a season.
Answer IX -- (2005)

While Iverson did average 33 points and 7.4 assists per game in 2005. No one was wearing these shoes anymore because at this point Reebok (not AI) got corny. Oh yeah did I forget to mention the 76ers went 38-44 that year. The main similarity between the Shoe and the season for AI is the change from the norm. In previous seasons Eric Snow had started at point guard position, allowing Allen Iverson to outrun his opponents as the Shooting Guard. AI was switched to point guard by coach Mo Cheeks in ‘05 for the first time in years. The similarity you might ask. The Answer IX’s was the first pair of AI’s that had straps, and this deviation from the norm perfectly represents AI’s transition to PG. (He is not a Point Guard, in fact he is actually an undersized two guard)

Answer X -- (2006)
On December 19, 2006 AI’ career as a Sixer came to an end and this was evidently realized by Reebok when they attempted to combine all 10 of the previous pairs in one with the Answer X’s

Answer XI -- (2007)

Like AI’s career in Denver The Answer XI were pretty nice from the outside (AI and Melo) but once you dig alittle deeper you realized he was on some other shit. This picture is from the inside tongue of the shoe. Castor and Pollux???? Part Horseman Part Boxer???? What the fuck does that even mean??

Unfortunatly AI’s actual size (5’10’’ 165) was a gift and a curse in the long run. A gift because it enabled him to be the quickest player on the court at all times. However, over the past 12 years AI has been fouled more than any player, other than the Diesel. He’s taken a beating and unfortunately that means that once the injuries and the constant barrage of fouls he received on a nightly basis caught up with him he was forced to stop driving to the basket and rely on his streaky jump shot. So let’s not think about the Nuggets, Chauncey, or The Pistons, let’s think of what Allen Iverson accomplished and why he is going to be a first-ballot Hall of Famer and is without a doubt one of the top 50 NBA players of all time.
But the fact of the matter is Allen Iverson changed the NBA more than any player in NBA history. Just like Jadakiss said “they even reinstated the zone to try and stop him.” While it's obviously more than that, there is some truth to that statement. AI was the realest NBA player in history, and if you didn’t like him he didn't care. While he is not entirely responsible, he was the reason the NBA instated one of the biggest policy changes as a business. The Dress Code. How many times did you see Iverson sitting in the post game press conferences in a fitted hate, white t, and a pair of tims. Apparently David Stern wasn’t having it. So what if he missed practice He was the face of a new generation of ballers. Come to think of it, that generation is the Denver Nuggets. That team would not be possible without Allen Iverson paving the way. Who was the first one to be accepted as mainstream with a body covered in tattoo's? AI. I don't remember a kid growing up watching basketball after Jordan retired in ’98 that wanted to be Kobe or KG or Shaq or Vince Carter or Tracy McGrady, or Karl Malone, or Chancey Billips they wanted to be Allen Iverson. At least in Philly they did. Come to think of it AI may be just be the reason that peoople that live in the City of Philadelphia are so thorough.

President Obama appears to be in the running for most non confrontational person in the history of the World. The other nominees for this prestigious award are currently; Mother Teresa, Martin Luther King Jr., this guy, Bobby Boucher, Prop Joe, and Kim Jong II… I get it, compromise leads to unity, and unity is a symbol of change, that's great. But the problem is we already have Great Compromiser (yes, that guy) in US history, you gotta find something else to be great at. The great orator would be a perfect title, however, a little more substance would be helpful so one day you could become the Great Orator/Legislator/Gangsta Rapper. (I’ll keep my fingers crossed on that last one)

Let me reiterate, I voted for him, I support him, I think he could take the next 3 years off and by process of elimination be a better president than George W. Bush, however, my issue lies in his failure to take a stand on most controversial issues. I know it is early on in his presidency and people can argue that he needs to gain trust before doing anything too radical, I think that’s bullshit!!!! Early on in a presidential term, from a political science perspective, is one of the best times to do radical things due to the relatively short memory span of the average American voter. For instance, it took George Bush only 8 months to plot and orchestrate a plan to fly planes into the World Trade Center’s… ok maybe not, but it only took him less than a year to initiate 1.35 trillion dollar tax cuts for the rich, and Obama can't even ban the sale of assault rifles after 3 police officers are killed by one crazy guy with an AK in Pittsburgh.

You may be saying… Marsellus Wallace looks like a bitch, he’s criticizing our great leader. But let me ask you readers this… where does he stand on gay marriage, or abortion? What’s his non rhetorical plan for Guantanamo Bay, why hasn’t he reinstated the assault weapon ban, is he a Muslim, is he a communist, why hasn’t he found an off switch for Mr. Foot in Mouth himself, and why hasn’t he illegally kidnapped and tortured Dick Cheney already??? Unfortunatly I can only answer a few of these questions, for a good majority of them I'm still awaiting answers.

However, more than anything there is one thing that I cannot commend Obama enough for doing (whether intentional or unintentional). His election provided instant credibility to the United States and the Western World once again. Lebanon elected a pro-west leader, Iran did but didn’t, and for the first time in a decade we actually seem to be welcome, or at least respected by the international community. I mean was it any secret that EVERY OTHER country hated us during the Bush years. Imagine have to meet with someone as poor-spoken as Bush every time you had to deal with any diplomatic affair dealing with the United States, It would be easier to hold a intelligent conversation with Charlie Manuel. I can imagine Tony Blair quoting Bun B every time they met in DC and can see it unfolding as follows.

Bush: "Too many good docs are getting out of the business. Too many OB-GYNs aren't able to practice their love with women all across this country."

Blair: "Go read a book you illiterate son of a bitch, and step up your vocab."

At least that’s how I envision it unfolding in my dreams.

With that said, let me reiterate… I think Obama has the potential to be one of our Greatest Presidents (that 4^th or 5th spot is his for the taking), but the first step for Obama is getting over his fear of confrontation. Take a stance. Take a stance so your voting base doesn’t feel as though you’re afraid to tackle controversial issues, come to think of it, that’s your job. I appreciate your efforts, but I mean come on man, compromise will not get you anywhere with the current republican party… THEY JUST DON’T LIKE YOU. Come to think of it they should also realize they need to give it a rest, seeing as though in the past 10 years, they went from the majority party to the overwhelming minority, maybe they need to realize that WE JUST DON’T LIKE THEM.

With the tireless task of sitting at a desk for 7 hours a day, We Got Dem Things When We Land is the perfect solution to my otherwise empty life. After years of searching for an alternative outlet to vent about steroids, Black Rob, the Sixers, Gucci Mane, potent marijuana, Hipsters and their facial hair trends, my desire to strangle Bob Costas, Joe Buck, and Gary Mathews, as well as the one and only Philadelphia Freeway (who if you have not realized gave us the inspiration needed to begin a world-famous super blog) I have finally come to realize that a blog is the only way I will ever be able to share my voice with the world. With that said, I introduce myself to anyone that will read this blog as Marsellus Wallace

I must admit my angst when it comes to my first ever post (that very few will ever read) however, seeing as though the 2009 NBA Finals has finally concluded I feel it is a fitting topic to address in my first ever post. So to begin, congratulations to the LA Lakers, assistant coach Jack Nicholson, Phil Jackson, Kobe Bryant, these guys, David Stern (for allowing the NBA refs to bet on the games) Dwight Howard (For being the strongest 7 footer without a single post move) and Andrew Bynum (for looking clueless every minute of the playoffs, therefore officially gaining the infamous “cupcake” status that so far has only been award to the one and only Haitian sensation Sammy D... Oh yeah and Glen Davis). With that said… those words will undoubtedly be the last praising words ever spoken on this blog of the raging douchebag also know as Kobe Bryant. Forget the rape charge, forget his failure to acknowledge the fact the HE IS NOT FROM PHILLY, I repeat HE IS NOT FROM PHILLY, and forget the fact he broke the male code of silence by snitching on Shaq about his alleged infidelity, when it comes down to it he just seems like he is trying too damn hard to get people to like him, give up already, Shaq will always be funnier, stronger, better, more magical, cooler and sexier picture than you… Yeah I said it.

Now, to quickly address the Orlando Magic… Two Words—You Choked. You made the New York Mets look like a team of clutch performers. From Courtney Lee’s missed layup, to the Horrendous Game 4 melt-down that was all but given to them by the referees (who undoubtedly lost money betting on the Magic in this one) a game where Rashard Lewis scored 6 points, followed by a game where Dwight Howard had 11, you guys could not have let down your fans any worse. After a phenomenal series against the Cavs, you guys couldn’t buy a bucket. Not to mention that having Ron Jeremy as your head coach probably didn’t help your chances of success against the Zen Master (Who is most likely on my list of Top 7 people I would love to smoke weed with, 6 spots behind Snoop Dogg)

Enough about the teams or the games, the real story of these playoffs was the Officiating. The NBA referees are so bad that I expect them to make the wrong call every time up the court. The key to officiating is consistency, and the NBA and their attempts at calling fouls is for a lack of better words… inconsistent. They try to control the game and in the process ruined the playoffs and the integrity of the NBA. Aside from the fact that they call flagrant fouls as if they were officiating WNBA games, and call technical’s in an attempt to remove all emotion from playoff basketball (someone explain that to me), they also appear to be extremely reluctant to call fouls against the home team… especially if they are losing in the series (see game 4 of NBA finals). If Tim Donaghy can get assaulted in a minimum security white collar prison, can’t I wish that someone would also assault Joey Crawford, Steve Javie, Mark Wunderlich, Bennett Salvatore and Violet Palmer???… yeah I said it!!! DAVID STERN, there is a crisis and you are failing to acknowledge it, one of your refs bet on games and called another ref (Scott Foster) over 100 times before games. You are turning a blind eye, just like Bud Selig (who, if you plan on assaulting Joey Crawford please get Selig too) did to steroids. David Stern, you are a good commissioner, but please don’t let this go any farther… let’s be honest, most of the refs are too damn old to react quick enough to call these fouls on the move. If Dick Bevetta can’t beat Sir Charles’ fat ass down the court in a race, why does the NBA think that he would be able to keep up with Lebron James when he slashes to the hole.

Speaking of the King… Rumor has it that the Cavs are going to do everything in their power to trade for the Big Aristotle, officially making him and Lebron James the Most unstoppable duo since Siegfried and Roy. They would require constant post and perimeter double teams, and would become the first NBA team in history to go 82 and 0. With that said, Lebron chill on New York talks for now… Honestly Shaq is cooler than Jay-Z, not to mention that you and Shaq could run the table with me pushing the point, so sit back, relax and wait, next year you’ll get yours.
